GEORGE - TIBETAN TERRIER (POSSIBLY X) - LINCOLNSHIRE

Post by kentishlass on Wed Jan 13, 2010 2:37 am

    NAME OF DOG- GEORGE
BREED OF DOG - TIBETAN TERRIER (X)
    SEX OF DOG - MALE
AGE OF DOG - 4 YEARS OLD
NEUTERED/SPAYED - NO - TO BE DONE AT A LATER DATE
VACCINATED - NO - TO BE DONE AT A LATER DATE
MICROCHIPPED - NO TO BE DONE WHEN NEW OWNER IS FOUND
    INSURED - NO BUT RECOMMENDED
OTHER DOGS - YES (SO FAR)
    CATS - YES (SO FAR)
    CHILDREN - TO BE ASSESSED
    APPROX WEIGHT - 7KG APPROX

This little man came into Mulans late last night. A friend of hers asked for help. He had taken George (the new name we have given to him) off someone else who had kept him in a shed for doG knows how long & also has clearly abused him. He is terrified & I mean terrified of men, feet, hands, sudden movements, being picked up, stroked I am sure you are getting the picture. He arrived at Mulans at about 11pm & was in need of a bath as he was not tooooooo clean. He slept in a crate last night with a bed & was in a nice warm kitchen which must have seemed like heavan to him. He is now with me & I really feel for this poor lad. He realy wants to come to you, but he just cant seem to take that final step, although he is now laying by my feet while I am typing. I was gently stroking him earlier & as I moved towards his back end he literally froze, I could feel his rear muscles tense up so hard as if he was getting ready for a kicking. He has eaten with the others & there is no food aggression what so ever, he is a sad gentle boy. It took me an hour to coax him in from the garden, he kept hiding behind bushes/bins etc & actually cried when he was trying to find the next hinding space. I have now put on a harness & then took him out on an extending lead & he is coming back in slowly, so he will learn, just will take a lot of time. We have not had one accident yet.
It is going to take a few months possibly more to get this lad to learn that we are not all bad, but feel once he knows that he is going to be such a loyal lad.
We have been informed that he does have pedigree papers, but when the mother passed away they were misplaced so as we cannot definately state that he is a Tibetan Terrier as we would not want for one minute to mis-lead anyone we are saying that he is possibly a cross (just to cover all angles)
He is not vaccinated or neutered yet, but I am going to wait a few weeks before this is done as I want to get him more used to being touched, held etc. He really is too traumatised at present to put him through that as well.
Anyway enough of my rabbiting here are a few pics. Please bear in mind that this is one scared lad so they are not the best.

Anyone wishing to be considered for the adoption of George is required to complete an adoption form after reading all the adoption rules & procedures please.
The adoption form can be found by clicking on the red link at the top of the home page.

Please be aware that George will not be ready for several months.

Oh the poor little boy, I'll never understand how anyone can hurt or mistreat an animal. It disgusts and upsets me. I'm so grateful I came across this forum, the work you do and the time and love you give is priceless.

He clearly needs uber amounts of tlc and patience. I would love to have him, if he, once more confident and happy, is able to live with other dogs. Is it too early to fill out an adoption form for him ?

I'm waiting for a homecheck on Oscar the Bichon/Chi X at the mo, and obviously if I'm lucky enough to give him a forever home, wouldn't be in a position to take this lovely boy on full time aswell. What do I do ?????

Hopefully your home check will be done very soon. If you are not sure about wanting to adopt Oscar you are under no obligation to do so, but George will most definately not be going anywhere for several months to come if not longer. It really depends on how he feels day to day.

Oh no, sorry, I'm not very good at explaining myself. I'm very sure about Oscar, he is absolutely adorable, but I know my home has to be right for him, to be honest I don't know what to expect from the home check. Please don't think for a minute I'm not sure about him, if he would be happy here I'd be over the moon, as I'm sure my girls would be, especially Daphne, who really misses having a playmate !!!

No dont worry, I just wanted to reassure you that just because you are having your homecheck for Oscar does not put you under any obligation what so ever. You may get here & feel that he is 'not' the one & that would be fully respected.
But he is soooooooo playful, bless him. He is trying so hard to get the little ones to play, but the only one that has humoured him so far is Pippin affraid

Ahh bless him, I'm sure he and Daph would be ideal playmates. Sorry, I'm taking up poor George's thread, can't stop thinking about him being so frightened, thankfully he's now in wonderful hands until he finds his forever home xx

It never fails to disgust me what some people are capable of, this poor gorgeous little boy.
So glad and happy that dear George is safe now.
I have said before that my Mum also wanted a rescue dog-has always had dogs and many rescues-but doesn`t have a computer and was told that it would be ok to fill out an adoption form on her behalf.
Is this def ok? - she would absolutely love George.
I know you said it may be quite a while before he will be able to be adopted, as he is so scared and frightened and needs to learn to trust and know what love is.
I will fill out an adoption form for my Mum. Her Bichon Frise had to be PTS in Oct,she misses her terrible-but her and Dad have always had dogs and really want another, but she only wants rescue.Love to George,he is now safe.

Put an adoption form in for mum anyway. At the bottom though where it says 'Name of Dog' (that is being changed) please put what types of dog she would like & what she would not be willing to adopt. That makes it easier for Cher to match little ones as we have several others coming in over the next week or so.

    awwww what a gorgeous boy.

Makes me sick to the stomach that people do this to animals, i wont write alot cos i can quiet possibly go in to some long rant about these situations.

Least now he is in the right hands, and a few months down the line have a loving and secure home for the rest of his life with nothing but cuddles and kisses which he fully deserves.

oh my, I know I said I would wait to adopt a little yorkie, but I've looked in those eyes and my heart broke and I fell in love, I know it's going to be a long time before he is ready to be re-homed, but I'm going to put in to be considered for George.
