    Keen Adoptees

Post by julie@carehome on Thu Jun 03, 2010 4:08 am

We are a 98 bedded care home in Hackney East London we are on a large site with two gardens and a huge car park that sets the home back from the little side road. We want to take 2 yorkie dogs we would like sisters and brothers as we think they would probably be harder to house.

There are staff on site 24 hours and the dogs would never be left on their own. We recently looked after a yorkie for the duration of her mum's holiday and she was throughly spoilt, she picked her lead people who she always went and found and settled in beautifully.

We found this breed very good with our elderly residents, some who had never come down into the garden but when we had the dog they all come down into the garden for a cuddle.

Please help us give good homes to 2 Yorkies we are currently trying to adopt two kittens too.

Hello and have you looked in the section 'dogs needing a new home yet'? You should also fill out an adoption form. Nice to have you here, enjoy!

If you see one you're interested in then fill out the form hun. I think it's under this section but my brain won't work today lol! It's called "We need a home" and if they're in red they're reserved pending a home check. I bet the mods will now tell me off for being a complete berk and getting this all muddled. Sorry Julie, must say, you have a great name!!

No-body seems to reply when I say I'm trying to adopt, trying to give a good home to a little soul or two.

Hi Julie. welcome to the forum. Have you filled in an adoption form? If you have seen a dog you fancy then fill in an adoption form and if you are successful we will get back to you. Also look in the thread We Need a Home at the dogs available (If they are in red they are reserved)

If you fill in a form and you are successful then you will get a reply or a phone call - to do this for every application received would cost a fortune in ££££s and time..Sue (yorkie girl - The BOSS ) runs after her own tail most days in fact I would say everyday and her phone bills are astronomical - the rescue is not helped by any funding it is the people on the forum that help and same all fosterers are volunteers also... Hope that explains some of this to you.. read through the posts - join in the chat and show all your carers and the old folk as much as you are able.. get them involved

    Hi Waving

What a lovely idea to have some pooches running about for the residents. I was allowed to take my old yorkie Bonnie into the hospice to see my grandad and it took me 3 hours to get out! Everyone wanted a pat and cuddle, what wonderful therapy! Love3 Would have applied for her to be a P.A.T dog but she was a wee bit too nippy affraid Will see how my new little pup develops.

Good luck, hope you and your residents find the perfect dogs for you all to enjoy. Jo.x

Congratulations Julie, please stay on the forum with us and post some pics of Rolo. Kentishlass who is part of the admin team has the most beautiful pug who desperately wants to live with me but her mummy won't let her which I think is rather mean lol!

i did reply to this lady and told her all about pugs..
One of the things i would worry about is open doors..as you kn ow not all the dogs we get in would not try to run out..
we would also be concerned as to had ownership, therefore who would look for signs of well being..
we would have to know more thats why the forms are so useful giving us contact numbers etc..

    thanks girls for the help

Carole you do a wonderful job and put the dogs welfare - care - etc first - That is the reason that this rescue is so successful - the right dog in the right place ... for you..
