Teddy -Yorkshire Terrier X - Lincolnshire

Post by Admin on Tue Sep 07, 2010 6:00 am

    NOW RESERVED PENDING MEETING

    NAME OF DOG - TEDDY
BREED OF DOG - YORKSHIRE TERRIER CROSS (POSSIBLE SHITSU)
    SEX OF DOG - MALE
AGE OF DOG - 6 YEARS (APPROX)
NEUTERED/SPAYED - NO (ADVISED BY VET NOT TO)
VACCINATED - NO (UNDER VETS ADVISE)
MICROCHIPPED - NO TO BE DONE WHEN NEW OWNER IS FOUND
    INSURED - NO
    OTHER DOGS - YES
    CATS - YES
    CHILDREN - YES 7 YEARS & OVER
    APPROX WEIGHT - 9KG APPROX
APPROX HEIGHT TO SHOULDER - 14" APPROX

Teddy was handed in at the pound. He was found wondering in a remote orchard. Teddy needs a special home as he has what only can be described as brain damage, He has seen a vet and we have been advised that this brain damage could have been caused by a vaccination. They have seen a few dogs in the practice with this kind of problem. Teddy is happy, enjoys his food and lives life to the full. The downside to this ailment is that he drags his front paw.Teddy hasnt always had this disability as his paw would have had previous scaring and this was not present when he was found. So he is learning to get along without using the leg, sometimes he will remember to flip the foot forward (like Hitler!) and marches, others he forgets and drags it. Occasionally he has got over excited a completely forgot about his disability and ended up rolling over or should I say tripping over, But this does not faze him at all. He is a boisterous little lad and loves his walks. His foster mum Jackie will be along shortly to update you all on his progress.
If you are interested in adopting Teddy please read below before applying.

Before an application is made please read the following carefully:
Please do not apply for the dog unless you have the funds to pay the donation fee, We do not have the facility to hold dogs in our care until the prospective owners have the funds to adopt the dog.

Only apply for the dog if you intend to travel to the fosters carers location, We do not deliver dogs or allow a third party to collect, the adopter/s must travel to view the dog.

Anyone wishing to be considered for the adoption of Teddy is required to complete an adoption form after carefully reading all the adoption rules & procedures please.
The adoption form can be found by clicking here: http://www.yorkieandtoybreedrescue.co.uk/adopting.html

Aw, he's adorbale, I wouldn't have even known he is a cross! My Emmie is only half Yorkie too with Westie Sue thought but I aren't sure...I sometimes think she's possibly yorkiepoo but whatever she is, she's the softest most loving little dog I have ever had so would def recommend a Yorkie cross! She's such an hardy girl too! (touch wood)

I was hoping to put a video on of Teddy but the resolution isn't good enough. Will have to do it again with my camera rather than phone. Ted is getting on fine. He is ,on the whole, getting on well with Joey but they do have the occassional splat. He can now put weight on his paw and use it when walking and can run like the wind when he wants. He is very protective of me and can be a bit aggressive to other dogs and people if he is unsure. He and Joe eat together and there is no food agression. Ted doesn't really respond to his name but I am working on that. However, he doesn't stray very far from myself or Joey. I have to take him to the field in the car as he tends to drag his foot when he gets tired. Once there he runs around as much as Joey. He is getting stronger in the legs but is still a wobbly walter sometimes. Very cuddly to look at but will only cuddle on his terms. He can now jump in to the passenger seat of my car and up onto the sofa. a big improvement. Will put some pics and a video up tomorrow.

Teddy has some problems with spatial awareness. He tends to bump into things as he sometimes misjudges were he is. If you offer him a treat he will sometimes miss it but get it the second attempt. I am in Wales at the moment and my daughter's house has a large garden and also a paddock with quite a few trees. He is very reluctant to go into the paddock, so maybe he remembers the orchard! Other than that he is doing fine, including getting up and down some quite steep steps (I do have to help him some times).

Yes Teddy is looking for a new slave. He is with Aunty Jackie & Joey at present & will stay with her until a new slave is found. He is a lovely boy, I had him here with me, but as I have all lamanet flooring he did have trouble walking on it, but with carpet/non slip flooring he manages pretty well.
If you feel you would like to be considered for Teddy you can complete an adoption form by either clicking on the link in his profie or on the link at the top of the forums home page, this will then be forwarded on to Aunty Jackie to look at. Please put as much information about yourself as possible, the more the merrier as this helps the foster carers to decide who they feel is best for the dog in their care.

Teddy looks to be a lovely little chap. I live in avery rural area - surrounded by fields and farmlands, do you think this would be a problem if i put in to adopt him? Smile ETA I forgot to ask if he is a good traveller?

I think the only way you will find out is to send in an application form for him, with all the details. Everything is taken in to account.

No enquires for Teddy,. Still we like having him with us and he's no bother. He and Joe have bad ears at the moment so we went to the vets and got some gloop to put in them.

Ted had a lovely holiday in wales and even mastered the art of geting up and down the steps to the grass!!

I think you will need a larger pram Suzanne for your little horrors, no pictures yet of your new addition. Smile

Teddy is another one I would have loved to have had, my lot don't seem to be much fun.

I am looking at a double decker buggy at the moment.

It maybe the one I am watching. £6.50 at the moment, you just can't get hold of them from this country.

US yes, costs more to get them here.

I saw one at the paws in the park just missed buying it as my tummy rumbled, had to eat first, that I would prefer it was a side by side one.

My Wife and I have fallen completely in love with Teddy and would welcome him into our house without hesitation!
He seems such a character and does not seem to let his problems interfere with having a good time.

Have we not answered you yet suzanne?

Go to www.photobucket.com open a free account, you can upload photo's from wherever you keep them on the PC using the img next to the photo, highlight it and right click and click copy (thats how I do it) then go to the pet pics forum, new topic and right click and paste in the box, it will appear in words giberish I call it, to check press preview lower down, if it has, scroll down and type something about it and then press send, if your lucky they will appear on the post.
