Unwanted Xmas Present Auction :0)

Post by Admin on Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:15 pm

What do you usually do with those unwanted gifts? Smile sweetly and say , then put them in the cupboard and forget about them? Well why not give someone the opportunity to have your gift and raise much need funds for the rescue? To help with your dilemma, we are going to hold an UNWANTED CHRISTMAS GIFT AUCTION in aid of the dogs that have recently needed BIG vet bills and dogs with future vet bills.

Please keep those presents that you have no use for so that we can put them in an auction. We will be starting it in late January so watch this space.

Right all of you fantastic people I would like to have some opinions .....

Do you want to have this auction in January (to end at the end of the month...i.e. payday for most Razz ) or would you rather begin it in February? I know things are a bit tight after Xmas (or is that just me? Embarassed ) but (I hope Sue doesnt mind me saying Hide ) the rescue has had a lot of unexpected vet bills to pay out for. We have had five very unexpected pups dogs needing dentals, spays, neutering and lots of other bills. Sue also has some longer term fosters that will be around for a while before being ready to find new homes.

So we need to raise some funds....what do you all think?

Other fundraising ideas are very welcome also scratch We currently have a raffle to win a Pets at Home voucher that is ongoing and still has plenty of numbers left to choose from Wink

It's only an idea (and as I've only been on the forum for a couple of months I don't know whether you do other things) but how about waiting until nearer Easter then perhaps peeps would spend their money helping the rescue instead of paying inflated prices for Easter eggs. Having said that I noted when I was in Morrisons yesterday they already had some small eggs and bags of mini eggs for sale.

I have started knitting things for Valentine's just in case you do something for that (say first week of Feb so bits can be posted for arrival by 14th Feb). You know dogs coats and blankets with hearts etc on them.
But Easter will be just as good you know how and when to do fund raising I am new to this.
Do you do something every month or just a few times a year.
Feb - 14th Valintine's
March - 17th St Patricks day
April - 23rd St George's day

Easter between March & April

I am looking forward to joining in the raffle this time. I missed out at Christmas as I wasn't sure how you went about it but I am defintely up for it this time though. I would definetly agree to wait till the end of January beginning of February.

I might have a couple of things I could enter for the auction. I need to find them though & make sure they are ok. Is there anything specific you want or need? Anything not allowed in the auction?

I agree with you about doing an Easter one but think we may have to get one up and running before that as well to ensure we can help dogs coming in. The auction before Christmas has helped several dogs but unfortunately funds don't last long Embarassed

I have already knitted 4 small dogs coats and 3 almost 4 Blankets, one of which is very smart/fancy in various pinks & purples with dog bones & dogs on it.
I have sorted out some fabric's for Mulan and other bits to sell or auction off.
How else can I help you?

There hasn't been specific fundraising as such on a regular basis but Helen, Sue and I agree that trying to get things going regularly will help the dogs. Therefore we are trying to keep things going as and when we can. So all help is very very welcome Smile

Good suggestions

Were just sorting out another auction at the moment for the end of January and will then maybe have one Easter time?? Yippeee to the idea of another cook book cheers also the keyrings cheers

Does anyone have any idea how we could get keyrings done for free?? I did also wonder about car stickers as well? If we could get a lot printed for free/really cheap, we could even try and send one on with each dog re-homed...therefor spreading the word even further?

The calendars...were working on that...should hear about that one very soon

Just read on an other site that they are doing a photo competition entries 50p each photo, differant class types dogs, cats, other pets, funny, unusual couples, little & large etc rosettes give as prizes but good for raising funds.
Could we do something similar?

Could do it 2-4 times a years add in seasons like best winter shot, best holiday photo

If you let me know his size I will check with what I have knitted already, if you want to give the rescue a little Money/£ (can someone give us a clue on a few amount) I will send 1-2 to you now as it is this cold weather when you need them.
I will see if I can get hubby to put some photo's on the system for me. After all I have knitted them to raise money so weather it is this month or next makes no differance to me but does to the rescue funds.

I am not able to help I wish I could but I must get this painting sorted this month, as I am not having any fosters, only emergancy ones if necessary.
Having to do painting a bit here or there then moving stuff around for the next bit.
I must get this flooring down.

Hubby not interested in anything to do with the house or garden, so does nothing, except cart other peoples stuff backwards and forwards. Did I say my son has given up his flat so everything has had to come out again,
Now have a 3 piece suite we have to find a home for or chuck it.
Cars are his forte and only the old ones.
