German Shepherd Cross Needs New Home Urgently.

Post by Tracy73 on Thu Jul 02, 2009 8:55 am

Hi Everyone, I know this is a long shot as this is a rescue for small animals, but it is pretty desperate.

Let me explain, I rehomed a 3 year old German Shepherd cross male about 4 months ago to one of my husbands friends. Yesterday the guy came back to my house to tell me that his daughter who had adopted the dog had moved back to her mums and basically no longer wanted him, he himself definitely did not want the dog, which when I originally rehomed him, the condition was I would take him back and offer back up rescue for this poor lad.

Anyway when he came in yesterday teatime, his first move was to try and eat one of my Yorkies Shocked which clearly is not very good, and then when he met my 7 month old gsd he started to snarl at him and lunged at him, and again this morning he has grabbed my little Yorkie.

He is fantastic with people of all ages and good with kids, he has been great with my children, and will let me throw a ball all day for him too chase and he will bring it back and drop it at my feet,he barks to let you know someone is at the door or in one of the back gardens, he is a lovely boy, and typical GSD in colouring, same size as a gsd, has the gsd stance the only thing he lacks or gsd ears, one is rigid and the other just flops over.

I am basically looking for a home for Jed were he will have someone home with him, most of the time, in his last home (unbeknown to me despite talking to these people a lot and asking if he was okay) he was being left alone for about 16 hours plus a day, today he has been in my garden and I have had to shuffle dogs round to stop any fights between them, and its not fair.

He needs a home with someone home most of the time, would ideally suit someone semi retired, he is strong on the lead and really enjoys his walks and human interaction, but he may be okay to live with a female but certainly not with male dogs, this could be due to the fact that he is un neutered which I will try to sort out before rehoming, he is quite thin as they have only been feeding him on one tin of dogfood per day, and you can feel his bones, its sad really, his fur right at the back just before his tail is patchy, which possibly is him chewing on it through boredom or stress.

He is also 100% housetrained, I crated him overnight and he did nothing in his crate overnight, went straight out and toileted.

We are only a very small family run rescue mainly taking in rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, degus, chipmunks, hamsters, mice, domestic rats, kittens and dogs under the age of 12 months, and would really appreciate someone offering this poor lad a home, as its unfair to have to keep putting all of the dogs away and moving them into different rooms to prevent a fight.

So if anybody can help please feel free to pm me regarding Jed.

Thank you Sue for allowing me to post this on here.

I will try to get some pics of Jed tomorrow so you guys can see him.
