i've just put in an adoption for Alfie as I've not heard anything yet re my adoption for Beau. Not only is Alfie a sweetie, like Beau, and i've once again Love2 but he's great with other dogs and cats too, which is ideal as we have Millie (pound dog) and our next door neighbour's have 2 cats, which my Bertie (now ) never did get used to. i would dearly love to introduce Millie to her new bro soon as I'm sure she'd love having another K9 in our pack. So yet again!!

I'm well aware cowboyz of the procedure required and that even if the home check goes well it still will depend on how the meeting with the actual dog goes. In my case it will depend too if Millie gets on with the dog to be adopted. And as for travelling long distances, to get Millie (a pound dog that we knew nothing of her background) we travelled from Swindon to West Yorkshire to get her! On top of that, the fee has to be paid (which is more than some other rescues). So yes it is a long process, but worth being able to give a dog that I feel is suitable for me a loving home!

PEOPLE USUALLY FALL IN LOVE WITH THE DOG AND THEN ASK US TO DELIVER..LOL

THERE WILL BE NO DELIVERY OF THIS OR ANY OTHER DOG..
we have been inundated with applications for this dog...several every day so there will be lots of disapointed people.

we will only rehome this dog to the right home for the dog so please dont be disappointed if you do not receive a phone call. there will be another cutie dog out there that will fit in perfectly//

I think jenny was pointing out to a new member who lives in the isle of wight how far she has to travel to see the dog..The new member may not know the rules of all members meeting and greeting the dog and it is jennies job on the forum to remind people of this fact.
Also Our fees are for a donation to help the other dogs in the rescue not to purchase one dog. People are getting a spayed or neutered [if possible] animal who is vaccinated and at todays prices £150 is a lot cheaper that some of the reputable rescues we know. Some of the dogs that are adopted have dentals costing anything in the regiopn of £200 and upwards ..so a bargain i think..

Alfie is such a sweet boy, I'm not at all surprised that there's a queue forming.

I do hope folks take a look at the other older dogs in the we need a home section too, oldies can be amazing!

Thanks Carole for your posting and i now realise that Jenny was just reminding new members of the procedure. I am also aware that the fee is not for the one dog. As you point out the dogs have been vet checked, wormed & deflead and most have been neutered/spayed, and also kept in loving foster homes - not kennels. So I do agree that the fee is a fair price, as this is a reputable rescue and all the hard work is appreciated. My step daughter runs the oncelovedrescue.org.uk for rehoming Staffies, which are much harder to rehome than the cutie small breeds. But as I once owned an adorable Yorkie, now that he's gone, I want to adopt another small breed dog. So i'll be patient until the right doggie comes along! Very Happy Could I just make a suggestion though that if a person is not suitable for the dog that they have put in an adoption form for, that they get sent a quick email, possibly by the foster carer concerned (not a posting on the website) to let them know so that they won't keep hoping. I realise that there may be a lot of applications for some dogs but postings are made on the website so an email to the unlucky adoptee would be helpful. we'd still follow the progress of a doggie on the website but will also know that we could be on the look-out for another doggie.

It seems that a nice bun fight is developing for Alfie, we have thought long and hard Idea about how to solve this problem and to release lots of potential Mums and Dads for the oldies on our site here.

Give Alfie to us, you know it makes sense and the problem is solved.

thank you for your suggestipon , it has been made before.
unfortunately lots of our fosterers are no computer savvy , in fact some do not have a computer..
we have to be careful with asking people to have others details because of data protection and it is only sue and myself who see names etc.
I am afraid with the workload we have at the moment we would not be qable to send an email to all unsuccesful applicants..I am a volunteer and am having problems trying to fit in a homw life as it is with my 12 hour days and sometime longer...sue the owner of the rewcue does not get a wage and works all hours often into the night..whereas i put down tools at 8pm.

I do not have time ot phone my fosterers on a regular basis and i have to expect them to phone me as people are never at home when i am able to call them

I have always worked with my local pound to take in and get to homes and other rescue dogs of various breeds..and yep they are mainly staffs..so do know and understtand the hours and work involved. but i do that as someone who cares for dogs and their rights not as a rescue or under our umbrella as it would not be appropriate.
I hope this explains the rescues position and the fact that at the moment there are only 2 admin and several admin assistants who are doing a great job in keeping the forum running and answering questions..
I have noticed recently that several people have questioned their rights to answer a question or make a comment..can i please say that without jackie stout, rosalie, gailg, cowboy and helwnw we wouldnt have a forum to come to..their help is so so gratefully received..

    xx carole
