BELLA - YORKSHIRE TERRIER - WARWICKSHIRE

Post by Admin on Tue Jan 25, 2011 1:39 am

NOW RESERVED PENDING HOME CHECK & MEETING

    NAME OF DOG - BELLA
BREED OF DOG - YORKSHIRE TERRIER
    SEX OF DOG - FEMALE
AGE OF DOG - 6YRS OLD BORN OCT 2004
    NEUTERED/SPAYED - SPAYED
    VACCINATED - YES
    MICROCHIPPED - NO BUT RECOMMENDED
    INSURED - NO BUT RECOMMENDED
    OTHER DOGS - YES
CATS - YES DOG SAVVY ONES
    CHILDREN - YES
    APPROX WEIGHT - 6 Kilos
APPROX HEIGHT TO SHOULDER - 9 Inches

Off the top of my head she is a complete cuddle muffin, want to be on a lap all day. Will not go out in the rain, well she will go out but not do anything. But she loves to wee on grass several times all over every 2-3 inches of grass. Bella does have the odd mishap in doors normally earlier hours of the morning, she knows she has done wrong, so still needs a bit of work on house training, but think a home with a lawn/grassy area will help as mine is fully paved over.
She loves her food and will eat any dog food that is given to her also loves chews & treats. She loves to play with all toys especially her tennis ball.
Stand nicely to be brushed and is good when bathed, does not like the hairdryer but will allow you to use one on her as long as you keep praising her, reassuring her, so should get better with that in due time.
She is with 2 other dogs, all have their own toys and beds all get on well together, but they do not play with each other nor do they sleep in the same bed. They will all travel on the back seat together so being close to other dogs is not a problem, but they all including Bella will growl at the others if she has something and she thinks they may want it and gets to close. We have not had any fighting though, so it is just as a warning that she will not let go of her toy.
She is starting to walk a bit better on a lead, this does seem to need more work, as does her recall at the moment, she does know her name but only comes part way to you not all the way.
Can be left on her own or with another dog (Annie) for an hour or so, and is good around my grandchildren 8 yrs & 12 yrs old boys. But does not like there young puppy (4 months old).
She loves her comfort and will get up on the bed and sofa if allowed to do so. She will climb up the stairs, but will not walk down my stairs they are very steep and deep for her short legs.
She has this little smile she does when she wants something by curling up her top lip for a split second; it is very comical to see.
She also does a head down bump in air and a high five/wave, all at the same time which is also hilarious to watch. Especially when you are coming up the stairs and she is at the top doing it.

She like men & woman so is OK with family & other dogs, I do not have any cats around but can check on smaller children if needed by asking my neighbour to come in with her 2 under 5 year olds.
Bella will make a great cuddly friend for someone if given just a bit more training, she does so want to please people and play & cuddles all day.

Bella needs to have her ears washed out with "CleanAural" once a week for the rest of her life to stop any more problems with her ears flaring up. Her leg has healed and what I thought was swollen muscle is just an excess of built up muscles more on 1 back leg then the other. Proberly due to 1 leg having been poorly and the other working extra hard to compensate. She may later in life need an operation on 1 leg but the vet says if she has a good home and they take proper care of her then she should not have any more problems with it.

You can see Bellas progress from when she arrived to the rescue, to now, on her thread in the Foster Lounge http://yorkie-rescue.friendhood.net/t4203-bella-west-midlands

You can apply to adopt several dogs, but the best home for the dog is how a new home is selected, so please put as much info about your home and every one in it as possible to help with the selection.
If you are short listed then you will be asked to come and visit the dog in its foster home. If you have other pets (Dog - Cat etc) then you will need to bring them so to see if you all get on OK together.

I think she would manage a normal stair case it is just that mine are very high between steps and narrow making them a steep staircase which I think frightens her. She is only little.
Could you not get on a train midweek when cheapest to visit a dog if you where lucky to be chosen as its new owner/slave.

I'm just back from a few weeks away from the forum and I'm so happy for Bella to see how far she's come! She's such a sweetie and definitely deserves to have her forever home with big laps to sit on and loads of love to give. for Pamela for all your love and hard work bringing Bella to this point. I really truly wish we could have Bella with her old friend Lidia, but it's just impossible
Can't wait to see her happy with her new family xx

The town is Bedworth, near Coventry if you put that in auto-route it should give you a fairly exact mileage as it is a fairly small town.
I think its about 205 miles to Gateshead, Tyne & Wear

    Hi
Have you put in an adoption application form for Bella please? If not you would have to do so if you wish to be considered for her, if you are you will have a telephone interview first, then a home check & then you would be given the address/location of her to visit her. We do not give out exact locations of any of our dogs before a new owner has been choosen, this is to protect both foster carer & dog.

It's been a absolute pleasure we have both enjoyed helping her come out of her shell and show us what a lovely girl she really is. She has this thing she does when I climb the stairs she is waiting at the top bum in the air, tail wagging like mad, head on the carpet turned to the side so she is canof looking upwards and her paw in the air giving a high five wave.
I have tried several times to take a photo of this as I have when she gives a quick 2 second smile by pulling her top lip back but is is impossible to get a photo. But I will keep trying as I think it is so funny when she does these things.
I have never seen any other dog do these little comical tricks before. Love1 Love1 Love1
She has been worth every penny, if she was our own dog we would have spent the money on her wellbeing so same differance.
She was in our home so we treated her as ours, now she is fit & well she needs to find a forever home of her own.

Well it's been a week since Bella had her stitches out after her spaying op so it's in the bath for her today. Very Happy Twisted Evil
She is such a good girl when having a bath, she loves the rub down with the towel afterwards too. Bella just loves any type of attention and hands on touching, she really does crave for a special friend to call her own and spend the days with, she so wants to please.

Bella has had a hard time and can not be given long walks, has never had them so does not miss them. She would be much better as a house dog & companion, lap dog so to speak.
Bella loves to play first thing in the morning after being let out loves to get on the bed for a cuddle and lots of hugs then later a gave with the squeaky toys or her tennis ball 5-10 mins is about enough, next breakfast & a brush up.
have a little rest or quiet cuddles, loves to just sit on your lap as long as she has hands on her or sleep on comfortable bed(her own). She will follow her mistress anywhere and will be happy to be calm & quiet or hyper and play, she just longs for affection & a home to call her own.
She has some lovely little quirky things she does which I find cute & funny.
Bella comes into the bedroom as soon as she wakes, puts her paws on the side of the bed to let me know she is awake and needs to go out. When she comes back in she loves to be up on the bed(when I go back to bed) or sofa (if I have got dressed) and roll and rub her body or have lots and lots of fussing.

She will sit at the top of the stairs and when I climb the stairs she puts her bum in the air wagging her tail like crazy, at the same time lowers her head tilting it to one-side almost turning her head upside down then raises 1 paw in the air like she is doing a high five. this is just one of her greetings, I find it so funny to watch her do this. It is so sweet....
she sometimes does it if she is on the sofa too.

Another thing she does, which she does very quickly is to kinda curl her top lip up so that it looks like she is smiling. She will do this if she wants something like if you are holding a chew stick and ask her if she wants it to say please, she will do the smile and a high five so quickly. I laugh very time so does hubby.

When she sees you carrying her dinner in she does a tappy dance with her front paws with excitement.

Then at the end of the day after I have said goodnight, giving the dogs the dogs their last back a stroke, gone to my room and turned all the lights off you will hear Bella's paws as she comes in and checks you are in bed safe for the night before she goes back to her bed and sleeps.

In the evening she likes to have her play time again its normally around her meal times.
She likes to wee on grass but still needs some house training, she goes about 2 weeks then has a little accident indoors. So we are still working on this, but in all other areas she is fine now.
Her back leg will never be completely healed but if not over exercised should be fine, so she is not a dog that can go on long walks so will be bests kept as house dog and restricted exercise but playing is no problem, when she starts to limp we stop playing and rest her a bit with cuddles or in her own bed, after about 30 minutes she is fine again.

Bella needs that special someone who will understand about having limits, someone who will love her, play with her, groom her, cuddles her, just love her. She has a lot of love to give to someone who will give her the time.
This is one very special little lady who deserves the chance of a loving forever home, someone she can give all her love too.
