RUBY - YORKSHIRE TERRIER - BLACKPOOL

Post by Admin on Sat Feb 05, 2011 8:04 am

    NAME OF DOG -RUBY
BREED OF DOG – YORKSHIRE TERRIER
    SEX OF DOG - FEMALE
AGE OF DOG – 5 YRS
    NEUTERED/SPAYED – YES
    VACCINATED - YES
MICROCHIPPED – YES DETAILS TO BE GIVEN FROM PREVIOUS OWNER
    INSURED - NO BUT RECOMMENDED
    OTHER DOGS – YES
    CATS – YES
    CHILDREN – OLDER SENSIBLE ONES
    APPROX WEIGHT – 3/4LBS APPROX
APPROX HEIGHT TO SHOULDER – TBA

Ruby is an ex-breeding bitch. We have been told she doesn't like men but is OK with older men. Ruby spent a few months in the home where the 20 year old son had returned from Uni and Ruby didn't get along with him.

She likes cats. She was kept with a westie but they didn't get along. Ruby only eats Royal Canin so any prospective new slave will have to realise she won't enjoy her food if you try different brands.

So far, after a few hours in her foster home, Ruby hasn't liked being picked up, though this may change with time.

She is small at approx 4/5 lbs and boney, so small children may not be suitable for this little girl.

Ruby's previous owners said that her teeth may need looking at because she has bad breath, but so far the foster carer hasn't noticed this.

Ruby's foster carer has to wait for a friend to put pictures on the internet from the camera so it may be a while before anyone gets to see what she looks like.

Before an application is made please read the following carefully:
Please do not apply for the dog unless you have the funds to pay the donation fee, We do not have the facility to hold dogs in our care until the prospective owners have the funds to adopt the dog.

Only apply for the dog if you intend to travel to the fosters carers location, We do not deliver dogs or allow a third party to collect, the adoptor/s must travel to view the dog.

Anyone wishing to be considered for the adoption of Ruby is required to complete an adoption form after carefully reading all the adoption rules & procedures please.

Please be aware that you will only be called if you have been chosen to adopt, we do NOT call every applicant

The adoption form can be found by clicking here: http://www.yorkieandtoybreedrescue.co.uk/adopting.html

the fosterer has taken some photos of ruby to be downloaded on to the site but her friend who is a techie...well knows which buttons to press is supposed to be going to see them tommorrow.
    so fingers crossed..

ruby is settling in..she has had a traumatic time, she was an exbreeding bitch, the kennels sold her in november to the oldowner and it just wasnt a marriage made in heaven..She hates the son..and will not tolerate him being in the house..she flies at him..
obviously we suspect that the breeder was tall and thin like the son is. and it brings back memories.

she isnt housetrained yet..well it is a work in progress shall we say.
is not comfortable walking on laminate flooring she slips and slides so i have asked the fosterer to look at her claws.

she is a very loving little girl as long as all her needs are being met.
if not beware - she has very sharp teeth,,lol

If its not her claws Carole maybe try Paw Wax use sparingly put a thin smear or put dogs paws directly on wax, it says on the tin, I got mine from P&H.

I used Paws Wax for the first 2 weeks we had the dogs arrive then they seemed to get used to our floors and walk fine now.

i have an update from her fosterer
Ruby is settling in, be is nervous, which can only be expected with
being in kennels and then a home that she spent so much time on her own.
She has been eating well and I think we have gotten rid of the bones
that were showing on her hind quarters and ribs. I think it may be the
little bit of porridge in the morning but she hasn't missed a meal day
or night. She is not snappy but has a little bark at men. Which brings
me to her most peculiar gasping sound when she takes air in after
barking. It has the sound of an artificial sound box or as if she has a
problem with her larynx. She is getting on well with Pippa, after Pippa
told her the rules. Not toilet trained when we got her two weeks ago but
we have only had two accidents in the last five days and I think I must
say it is work in progress. She slept up-stairs last night on a cushion
and an old pair of track suit bottoms of mine, for the first time and
we were pleased about that as we will after a few more nights be able to
    put our alarms back on.

    and piccies

She sounds very much like Nico with the throat noises, with Nico since he has lost some weight, its not so bad, I also took his stiff and wide collar off, we are now using a harness, as pulling on his lead might have done it as well.
With Ruby its probably not her weight. We could not feel Nico's ribs.

Hi Lucylee, you had it right, I'm Rebecca, my Yorkies are Minnie who we've had from a pup and Lidia who we got just a few months ago from this rescue. ( they're pictured in my avatar on the left, Minnie's the one to the front with the upright ears and Liddy is behind her with floppy ears) They make a sweet pair and are great company for each other, though because Minnie is small and Lidia is a standard size they can look like mum and daughter.

Best of luck with your application, these things can take a bit of time as the folks who run the rescue are all volunteers and are usually run off their feet looking after the doggies. Fingers crossed for you xx

Minnie and Liddy are adorable : : ,I had a little yorkie called Lucy who looked the image of Minnie, Lucy was a miniature, she was 16years old when she passed over i still miss her so much even thou its been nearly 14years but i have such lovely memories of the time we had together. I wished i had some idea if there was any chance that the LOVELY RUBY will join our family. Still shes worth waiting for. xxxxxxx

The gasping sound that you are hearing from Ruby is probably reverse sneezing (rapid inhaling and exhaling of air) or it may be trachea collapse. Rusty boy used to do this. Apparently small doggy’s and in particular Yorkies are prone to this. It is normally harmless. I used to just rub Rusty front and throat and he just calmed down. They do it when they get excited, (showing them the lead and they know they are going walkies). I would speak to the vet if you are worried about it, but as I say it is normally harmless. x Very Happy
