URGENT FOSTER CARER FOR 2 OLDIES PLEASE

Post by yorkiegirl on Wed Jun 22, 2011 4:58 am

Does anyone have space for 2 oldies please? They cannot be parted. They are 12 & a half & in very good health (got a letter from old vets), they will have all vet expenses covered by the rescue.
They are not minatures, but not standards either. Lovely well mannered, clean boys. They are at Mulans at present, but really would be better in a quieter house. If you can help please either reply here or email [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We would soon put a spring in their step with Burns in their bellies, Scruff a little liveler now, even better when he has haircut.
The vet gave me Xanax for him 1/4 an hour before haircut or another 1/4 if necessary, son coming to help cheers just don't ask when.

Just to add some extra info on these lads, THEY ARE FAB....I honestly cant fault them, their not food aggressive, they take food from you very gently, they are totally house trained, not had one single accident. They have their loving and then are happy to just lol around the garden. They dont even b other with the chickens or other dogs. They really do just need a nive retirement home, as Sue said they are NOT small yorkies, they are standard size.
Bertie is slightly more nervous than Toby, Toby seems to be the confident one, Saying that though when Missie had a hissy fit at them they couldnt get out the door quick enough, Poor lads...lol. Dont panic no one got hurts, just missy screaming at them. but boy did they run away quick enough, They are true little gents.

    This is Bertie

Surely theres someone out there who would like to ready made perfect dogs, I truly cant fault these guys, They both like men and woman, Toby has taken a liking to my mum, but sadley shes not allowed pets where she lives. And they both loved my dad when he was here. They truly are a lovely ready made pair of perfect little boys.

Such temptation!!! What adorable boys Love2 They sound totally my cup of tea, I truly wish we had a bigger house. Four dogs full time with a fifth coming to stay every other week (Minnie's sister Poppy who belongs to my stepdaughter) might be a squeeze in our teeny home......need to get the thinking cap on........boarding schools?.......OH rehoming page...........must remember how much I love my family really..........

I'll be watching these two closely, they are perfect!!! Only the best forever home please?

    So whats their story,
you say they are healthy, but vet bills covered, do you expect this to be a long term foster or permanent thing.
Or is it just that older pairs of dogs take longer to find a new home for.

I am hesitant to offer them a foster home purely because I use the mobility scooter to get to & fro the park. 3 dogs is manageable on the scooter but 4 is impossible to take at the same time. So would mean several runs every day to give them their walkies. Weather not always so good to manage that in this area at the moment.
Having the pond done at the moment so garden a building site again for the next few weeks. They can get to weeing area but not much room to play in garden.
If its a long term foster holidays would then be a problem. Not this year but next as asking daughter to have my 2 dogs is just about OK with her dog & kids but to ask her to have 4 dogs is a bit too much for her.
That's way I would need to know more before I could make decision, 1 foster for me is no problem.

Hope someone can help these lovely guys.

I would have them in a heart beat. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] but would not be able to foster any more, would still help with transport.

That would be me full to, as have to think about mum so can only foster a small number.
But we do have a very quite household where I think yours is quite a bit more busy then ours.

Hopefully Sue will find the right place for them soon.

If I am on my own it is fairly quiet here, they don't play just sleep and follow me when I move about. Gets noisy feeding time even the

    fosters join in.

Also noticed if TV or radio on they are a little noisy. Laughing

These guys need a long term foster placement or a permanent home, they must stay together and thank you soo much for your offers, but im sure well find someone soon, they are ok with me for now. They are lovely quiet easy going lads and I too would have them permanently but with 6 dogs at the moment its not an ideal situation.

Thanks Again for all your offers, Im sure with a little time we will find a retirement home for them. And Rosalie if you couldnt foster anymore, what would we do?....lol... OMG...That cant happen....lol.

I might have to stop for a while anyway as Lulu is not good with Scruff, as he wonders all over the place and she does not like him going near her, he can't hear her warning growls so they get snappier, its only with him, so have to give her her own space, which cant't be good for her. Can't give Scruff his own space as he walks straight into things. Head butted several times the same door on the edge because another dog is in the way.

He also just lays on the floor anywhere behind doors in the middle of passage ways, keep putting him into a bed and usually he gets out again, have blankets on the floor so he might get some of his body on it, have even seen him with his head in a dog bed.

Earlier this morning I was surprised he was actually asleep in one of the dog beds, much safer for everyone. Smile I woke him up after a long while to give medication and some food with it, now he is wondering around again.

I thought I was getting him cut today but need longer than my son could stay, he had a doctor's appointment.

Others may be the same, after Lulu has her perfect home with slaves, I will concentrate on Scruff and find out what his medical needs might be, if he can get in and out of the house for comfort trips

Bless him Rosalie, poor Scruff sounds like a doddery old man, sounds like he doesn’t know whether he is Arthur or Martha………..Does he actually sleep in the dog bed at night or is it wherever he lays down.? LOL I’m sure he will get better when he has had the haircut. x

He just lays down anywhere at night.

I think he used to sleep with owner on the bed not sure if he did at a previous place before Graham had him, he did start on his bed

not sure why it changed with Graham possibly because he had his daughter at certain times.

If my hubby is working late at night Scruff is in the hall so there are 2 doors Scruff might be blocking, so he wouldn't get in (did secretly speak in Scruffs ear)I tried putting the blanket away from front door out of draught as well, in the end I had to rig up part of the pup pen so he could not get close to the door and hubby had to step over the pen and put his foot down on Scruff affraid or very nearly.

One night I thought I had better have a look over the bannister to see where he was and stubbed my toe affraid I carried on and looked thinking I wll scream in a minute. Phoned OH and told him to ring me if he could not get in and I would pretend to be asleep, toe was too painful put some arnica for bruising on it, Polyclinic next morning.

I have just put him on a table and had to keep kissing him while my fingers felt for lumps where ever I could, wasn't looking, not cutting the coat just the lumpy bits, he does look a little different hopefully, I still have my fingers he just keeps mouthing me with his 4 fangs and trying to escape. Maybe trying with tablet tomorrow or else groomer Monday, I will ask her if she will do it with the tablet.
He has a slight heart murmer having durectic at the moment as fluid in chest. May have to have xray to see what is going on.

How funny....At least the fingers should be fairly safe if he only has the 4 fangs. I am guessing he would not be very happy with a muzzle on him, while the hair is been cut. ?? When i had my sisters for a couple of weeks i had to try and cut poo from the hair at his backend. (Lovely) I did put the muzzle on him because I was not sure how he would react. (He is a rescue collie). Wise move on my part because he did snap, but luckily that was all he could do. He is very good normally you just have to be careful with him. LOL. I wonder if that would work with Scruff ? Not sure how you would do the face though. Very Happy

I truly cant fault these guys, theyre really are the perfect little house guests, I have six dogs here and you wouldnt have thought it. Their personalities are starting to show, Bertie is so funny, He loves sitting out in the garden smack bang in the middle of the lawn. And when its time to come in (because its raining) we lays on his back and you have to carry him in...lol. But once hes in hes happy enough, its just a quirky thing he does. And Toby, Who's he?...lol. I dont know hes here. Bertie occasionally goes up to him and washes his ears for him, saying that hes done it to all the dogs here..lol.. Much to my poor riccos disgust...lol.
Come on people there must be someone who would love two very charming gentleman, and like Rebecca said, No vets bills. now that is a bonus..
