BARNEY - YORKSHIRE TERRIER - LINCOLNSHIRE

Post by yorkiegirl on Tue Sep 01, 2009 6:31 am

    NOW RESERVED

    NAME OF DOG- BARNEY
BREED OF DOG - YORKSHIRE TERRIER
    SEX OF DOG - MALE
    AGE OF DOG - 8
NEUTERED/SPAYED - TO BE BOOKED IN
    VACCINATED - YES
MICROCHIPPED - TO BE ARRANGED WHEN NEW OWNER IS FOUND
    OTHER DOGS - YES
    CATS -YES
CHILDREN - NO NEVER ENCOUNTERED THEM
    APPROX WEIGHT - 2.4KG

Barney is one of 4 little ones that have been handed to our rescue to their owner passing away & the other member of his family is not able to cope with them all.
Barney must be kept on his lead at all times as his favourite game is Hide & Seek. He will apparently hide behind anything (trees, bins, bushes etc), he sits tight and waits to be found & picked up Laughing He will even play this game in the rain Wink
He needs the hair around his eyes kept short as this year he has developed an allergy to the pollen & is at present needing them bathed in the morning & eye ointment applied, but this is nothing major as most yorkies do seem to get what I call 'Bogey Eye'. Barney can be very mischevious, if you respond to his mischeviouness & pick him up telling him he is a naughty boy he wags his little tail like mad!! He has been a very spoilt little man.
Barney has NO teeth!! They all had to be removed last year as he had a life threatening infection in his gums & the vet had to remove them all to save his life due to all the poison entering his blood stream, it took Barney about 3 months to fully recover, but is now eating well again, but does need kibble soaked & mixed with meat, this means that his little tongue hangs out one side.
A few pics to start with, will get some better ones once they have all calmed down a bit!

Anyone wishing to be considered for the adoption of Barney is required to complete an adoption form after reading all the adoption rules & procedures please.
The adoption form can be found by clicking on the red link at the top of the home page.

Aww he's sooo cute and sounds such a character, hide and seek is fun!. He'd fit in perfect here and i have a soft spot for the sightly older ones, tho he's still young in small dog terms!. Want want grrr can't adopt yet Crying or Very sad Then again if he's so good at hiding perhaps the landlord wont notice him? Twisted Evil Idea

Barney is here with us at Yorkie Mad house & he is really a very cheeky little monkey. Of the 4 he is the outgoing one, always happy to see you, jump up your legs for attention. He needs his house training skills worked on though as he appears to be under the illusion that if it stands still for more than 10 seconds it needs watering , but we are work in progress with that. Is not too bad on a harness & is now appearing to start enjoying a walk, we are using an extending lead so he can play his game but not get lost. He does hid behind the bushes in the garden & wont come out if you call him, but when you find him he trots out to greet you.
He may have no teeth, but has a good go at gumming a chew stick & eats chicken Balls much to Ambedrs disgust.
He will again make a wonderful companion once I feel he is ready to go.

This is one cheeky lickle monkey!! His eyes are clearing up lovely, hardly any goo in the mornings. Really does love to hide affraid , I thought I had lost him today, but found him tucked behind the oil tank lol! , as soon you spot him he comes trotting out.
Also no pees off him for the last 2 days, so definate progress there & walks do not appear as daunting to him, but seeing his 'Hide & Seek' games I would not trust him off lead. Definately more out going than the girls are.

Little Barney bless him is so lucky that he is going to a new home on sunday as Scruffy has now decided that not only more than one human is a no no, but he is now picking on poor Barney as he cannot have a go back. I am now having to keep them apart a poor Barney is now getting a bit depressed. Scruffy really is becoming a bully Sad

He is now a podgy happy little chappie, his eyes are a lot brighter clearer now & he has scrubbed up well. Just loves to cuddle up on the couch next to you. He has started to play with your fingers if you wiggle them on the chair.
Little Tilley is going to miss him, but I am sure she will find a new slave soon.
